Our Mission & Vision

Garden Valley Church is a thriving and growing church in the Garden City area.  It began in 1959 and has had a heart for reaching the community with the Good News of Jesus Christ ever since.

We are a church committed to learning together:

  • relevant WORSHIP — developing a vibrant relationship with God
  • compassionate CARING — developing authentic relationships with one another
  • loving SERVICE — reaching out beyond ourselves to explain and demonstrate the Good News which Jesus Christ offers to all people.

 

Church Staff
Pastor Jim Hossler, Interim Pastor

Pastor Jim graduated from Bethel College in South Bend, Indiana and Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.  He served two churches in Ohio over a period of 12 years and served in Dodge City, Kansas for 27 years before retiring in 2002.  He served as interim minister in Wakarusa, Indiana for two years before coming to Garden Valley Church for 9 months in 2008.  Pastor Jim came back to Garden Valley in November 2011 to serve again as Interim Pastor.

Pastor Jim’s emphasis in ministry has been on pastoral care and church development, and he is available for spiritual and family counseling.

Jim & Jo Ann have one son, Tim.  Tim, his wife, Ann, and their two daughters live in Lawrence, KS.

Pastor Steve Ensz, Youth Pastor

Pastor Steve began youth ministry in 1985 after graduating from Grace College of the Bible, Omaha, NE, in 1983.  His first 5 years of Youth Ministry were spent with a congregation in Northwest Kansas.  His ministry with Garden Valley began in 1990.  He has a passion to see the youth of this community see Christ, grow in Him, and reach out to others.

Steve & Lesa have three children:  Karena (Lousiville, Kentucky), Tina (Moody Bible Institue, Chicago), and Jeremy (GCHS Senior).

Chandra Askren, Office Administrator

Chandra graduated from Garden City Community College with an Associate in Arts Degree and then attended and graduated from Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana.  After working several years as a professional photographer God led her to Garden Valley Church and she began working in the office July 2005.  She has a passion for sharing God through the daily workings in the office and graphic design.  She also enjoys working with the High School youth and mentoring young women.

Abbe Munoz, Custodian

Abbe has been working part-time at Garden Valley since 2000.  He also works full-time at Garden City Community College as a custodian in the Fine Arts Building.

Abbe & Peggy have two daughters:  Kelsi and Kayla.
